What Is Google Maps Hiding Above Russia?
Meteor Sighting and Coordinates 76.789200,157.972722
The YouTube Channel, SecureTeam10, recently posted a video about meteor sitings over the State of Michigan. According to the channel producer, known to his fans as “Tyler”, he was subsequently contacted by someone with a strange story related to one of these meteor sitings over Michigan. A strange story that only got more strange after Tyler started investing the man’s claims himself.
As Tyler tells it a man contacted him stating that he not only witnessed the meteor event over Michigan, but that he experienced another strange event at the same time. The man told Tyler that while he was watching the meteor shoot over the sky, he became horrified when his phone started making these “funny radio noises” that he said hurt his hears. Tyler says the man said the noise almost sounded like voices.

He couldn’t make out what the voices were saying at first, but then the voices started giving out “what sounded like coordinates”. He wrote the numbers down, 76.789200,157.972722, and went on the Internet to investigate. After trying different things, he tried entering the numbers into Google Maps and this is what he found (satellite view):
What is Google Maps Hiding in the East Siberian Sea over Russia?
Tyler doesn’t tell us how the man determined these were Earth coordinates. For all we know the man may be feeding Tyler a made up story about his encounter. Regardless, that map is real and it looks like an island that has been blocked out or redacted, if you will, by the powers at Google Maps. I’ve taken a couple of screen shots and linked them here and here just in case the map image changes in the future.
If you zoom out and switch from satellite view to map view, you can see that the island (and I’m just speculating that’s what it is) is located north of Russia in the East Siberian Sea. The island is obviously very tiny. But what is on that island, if it is an island, that Google Maps is hiding from us? There have been stories in the past about pixelated images of certain locations on Google Maps, like the Vice President’s residence when Dick Cheney was living there. But this is the first time I recall seeing this kind of redacting of an entire land mass.
