US Director of Office of Net Assessment Attends Bilderberg 2018 Meeting

Secretive Bilderberg Group 2018 Meeting in Italy

The secretive Bilderberg Group is holding its 66th meeting starting today, June 7th. The location this year is Turin, Italy and the conference runs through June 10th. According to the Bilderberg Meetings Official Website (see links below), the meeting is a forum for informal discussions about megatrends and major issues facing the world. Between 120-150 political leaders and experts from industry, finance, academia and the media are invited to participate. About two thirds of the invitees come from Europe and the rest from North America. One third of the invitees “are from politics and government and the rest from other fields”. Despite the involvement of participants from the political arena, what takes place in the meetings are kept secret.

James H. Baker, US Director of Net Assessment on list of attendees

On the official list of Bilderberg attendees are over three dozen past and present government officials, including five currently sitting prime ministers and even one king. Also on the list are several former US governmental officials, like former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin. But there are only two active US governmental figures, only one of which is in the federal government. That person is James H. Baker, III, Director of the the Department of Defense’s Office of Net Assessment (ONA).

According to Mr. Baker’s DOD biography (see links below), the ONA “is responsible for providing the Secretary of Defense and other senior leaders with independent assessments of the prospects of the military capabilities of the United States relative to other actors, as well as the political, economic and regional implications of those assessments.” Baker has served as ONA Director since May of 2015. Before becoming Director of ONA, James H. Baker, III has also served as Strategist to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Principal Deputy Director for Strategy for the Joint Chiefs, and Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs according to his LinkedIn profile.

The meetings are held under the Chatham House Rule, which states that participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s) nor of any other participant may be revealed.

What is he doing there?

At present, we don’t know if Mr. Baker is attending the Bilderberg meeting in an official capacity at taxpayer expense or if his attendance is personal and funded by someone other than the American taxpayer. But as stated on the Bilderberg Meetings Official Website, “[t]he meetings are held under the Chatham House Rule, which states that participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s) nor of any other participant may be revealed.” As the sole US official on the official list of attendees at a meeting of some of the most powerful people on the planet, a meeting that is subject to “the Chatham House Rule”, shouldn’t we be hearing more about this guy from the mainstream press?

Shouldn’t we be hearing more about the Bilderberg Meeting itself?
