Obama Uses Texas Church Massacre As Call for Gun Control
As details from the Texas church massacre were still unfolding, former U.S. President and gun control advocate, Barack Obama, wasted no time in taking to Twitter to spin the horrific event into a call for gun control. At 7:51 P.M., the former President, who executed possibly hundreds of people without due process via drone strikes, tweeted the following:
May God also grant all of us the wisdom to ask what concrete steps we can take to reduce the violence and weaponry in our midst.
— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) November 6, 2017
If it sounds like he’s responding to another tweet, he is and it’s his own tweet. But Obama’s ego and political opportunism aside, the tweet appears to have been made before two very inconvenient pieces of information about the attack came out. The first is that the shooter was apparently stopped by an armed private citizen and the second is that the shooter may have been a member of, or at least identified with, the group Antifa. At time of this posting, the story is still developing, however Obama’s tweet makes clear that gun control advocates will not let a good crisis go to waste.
