Former President Donald J. Trump was acquitted today of the one Article of Impeachment brought against him by the U.S. House of Representatives. This marks the end of the second impeachment attempt of Donald Trump by the Democrat-controlled lower chamber of Congress. This marks the first time in U.S. history that the same president has faced impeachment more than once and the first time a former president has faced impeachment, as well.

Unprecedented Impeachment of Former President Begins

In further persecution of their political opponents, the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives is attempting to impeach President Donald Trump in an unprecedented second impeachment attempt against the same president. Also unprecedented is the fact that a former U.S. president is being impeached, as well.

The Articles of Impeachment allege that Trump is guilty of “incitement to riot” through his public statements and speeches calling into question the validity of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election. The former president’s statements allegedly incited the mostly peaceful protesters gathered in Washington, D.C. to force entry into the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, the day electors were counted for the 2020 presidential election.

The impeachment trial in the Senate begins at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
