The ONE THING They Won’t Say About IRAN

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

Welcome to The Political News Report, PoliticalNewsReport.com.

The current news cycle moves fast and it’s easy to miss important stories with the flood of information that is available today. Typically these videos are geared toward picking a news story that’s recently come through the curated news feed at PoliticalNewsReport.com that might be worth a closer look. But today we’re going to reach back a little further in time to a news story from 2013 that continues to be relevant, year after year, and also continues to be IGNORED.

But before we talk about that, I want to say a quick thank you to the new subscribers that joined on YouTube and BitChute this week. Friends, if you find value in this content, click the subscribe button, click the notification bell and also share on social media.

And with that, let’s get to the topic of this video.

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’re well aware that tensions continue to mount in the Middle East between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America.

Flare ups between the United States and Iran have been a recurring theme for the past several decades. I personally have been alive through several of these flare ups and each time the relationship between these two countries is typically portrayed by western politicians and the western media, as that of the civilized, freedom-loving, prosperous United States being threatened by the backwards, oppressive, freedom-hating Islamist dictatorship of Iran.

The current crisis between Iran and the US is not being presented any different today. This most recent flare up has taken place in a body of water called the “Strait of Hormuz”, which lies off the southern coast of Iran. According to the US and the UK, as well as western media outlets, events occurring in the Strait of Hormuz near and around Iran’s borders are somehow acts of aggression by Iran against the United States and it’s long-time ally in middle east conflict, the United Kingdom.

This despite the fact that the Strait of Hormuz makes up part of Iran’s southern coast and United States is located 7,000 miles away, and it’s steadfast ally in the Middle East, the United Kingdom, even though it, too, is located about 3,400 miles away from Iran.

While unpacking that spin is worthy of a lengthy documentary in and of itself, The Political News Report is here to give you the quick and dirty. AND THE QUICK AND DIRTY HERE is the ONE THING neither President Trump, nor any of his predecessors, going back decades, will say about Iran, with the exception of one instance by Obama in 2009 – after which he apparently forgot, is something that has long been discussed in academic and policy circles, but never officially acknowledged nor reported by the mainstream media.

Report Cover - Overthrow of Premier Mossadeq of Iran

THE FACT THAT THE UNITED STATES OVERTHREW A WESTERN-FRIENDLY, SECULARIST, DEMOCRATICALLY-ELECTED LEADER NAMED MOHAMMED MOSSADEQ IN 1953 IN THE INTERESTS OF BIG OIL AND THE UNITED KINGDOM.

Back on August 19, 2013, The National Security Archive released documents it obtained through long-fought FOIA requests that detail and confirm that the U.S. did in fact overthrow Mossadeq. Something the U.S. long denied.
First thing to mention, so nobody is confused. The National Security Archive is not a federal agency. It is a non-profit organization run out of George Washington University.

While this article itself doesn’t deep dive into the details of the 1953 Iranian coup, it links to CIA original documents like:

  • A narrative of the coup by one of the CIA coup planners, Dr. Donald A. Wilber, titled “OVERTHROW OF PREMIER MOSSADEQ OF IRAN”;
  • A CIA internal historical account dating from the 1970s titled “The Battle for Iran”;
  • Memos from Kermit Roosevelt, chief of CIA Near East Operations at the time and the CIA’s man on the ground running the coup out of the American Embassy in Tehran;
  • And a small trove of other documents relating to the coup.

This news story is a little older, but this little-discussed fact informs what is going on today. And really, this is only scratching the surface.

If you look deeper into this story, you’ll find that the British Empire once controlled Iran and was not only extracting Iran’s oil and taking the profits home, but that the UK wasn’t even paying the paltry share it promised to Iranian people in the first place. You’ll also find that the Truman Administration originally resisted the urging by Winston Churchill and the UK government to do their dirty work and overthrow Mossadeq, but unfortunately Truman’s successor, Dwight Eisenhower, sacrificed his values and his dignity, as well as Iran’s right to self-determination, in the interests of fighting the Cold War.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY WHAT YOU WILL FIND IS THAT THE U.S., THROUGH THE CIA, SPENT A LOT OF MONEY AND COMMITTED A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF RESOURCES, paid for by the American taxpayer, TO PROPAGANDIZE BOTH THE IRANIAN PEOPLE AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE INTO CALLING FOR THE OVERTHROW OF MOSSADEQ. Paying off newspaper publishers and politicians, alike. Hiring thugs to march in the streets.

In other words, to manipulate the public into supporting what is, at it’s root, a heinous crime.

Look, I’m no fan of the Iranian government, but we’ve seen the United States pull this song and dance several times in the last twenty years alone. At some point, the adults in the room have to point out that the kid who keeps getting into fights in other people’s yards is probably lying when he says they’re the ones who started it.

If you would like to know more about this very important piece of history, I will link to the National Security Archive in the show notes.

Also, one quality account of this story that I can vouch for (because I’ve read it myself) is this book: All The Shah’s Men, by Stephen Kinzer. If you’re as busy as I am, I recommend the audio version. It’s far more intriguing than anything Hollywood could ever produce.

Thanks for watching.
